Physical classes for Class 9 students resumed across Odisha schools today. After remaining closed for months amid the ongoing second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, schools opened on Monday (August 16th). Classes commenced in all government, government-aided and private educational institutions with strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines. Moreover, hostels for Class 9 students also opened from today, as per the earlier direction of the School and Mass Education (S&ME) department. Thermal screening of students, hand sanitisation, wearing of masks and social distancing in classrooms have been made mandatory for all schools. Except Sundays and Public Holidays, classes will be held on all weekdays from 9 am till 12.30 pm. However, it is not mandatory for students to attend classes in the offline mode. Students can opt to attend classes online and if they decide to take offline classes they can do so in consultation with their parents.
