Hockey star Birendra Lakra was welcomed with much pomp and show at his native village in Sundergarh district on Monday. Birendra Lakra hails from Lachada village in Gurundia block of the district.
The local residents of his village welcomed the Olympian in a traditional manner. It’s been over a month since the Indian Hockey Men’s team returned to India after winning bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.
However, Birendra Lakra says he wished to spend time with the people from his village which is why he scheduled to meet them at the end of all events.
