Tension erupted outside the residence of minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Friday (July 8) after students pursuing Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) staged a protest criticising the decision of government to conduct the language test for 200 marks in the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET).

As per the grievances cited, the students have alleged that after the implementation of choice based credit system in 2015, no student has given a language test of 200 marks. Therefore, they have requested the state government to set the entrance exams accordingly.

Speaking on the matter, mass education minister Samir Dash clarified that the grievances of the students have been taken into account and decisions will be taken accordingly to ensure that students are able to appear for the exams. The minister further assured that if required the application dates would be extended by a day or two.
