In a citizen centric move, the Odisha Commerce and Transport Department on Monday fixed the maximum hiring charges for various types of ambulances services in the state. According to a notification issued by the department, small category of ambulances like Maruti Omni, Tata Magic and Maruti Eco will charge Rs 750 up to 10 kilometres, and Rs 30 for every additional km exceeding that. Similarly small ambulances with basic life support facilities will charge Rs 1,000 up to the same distance. Medium category of ambulances like Mahindra Bolero will charge Rs 1,000 up to the distance of 10 kilometres. These ambulances with basic life support system facilities will charge Rs 1,500 up to the same distance. Moreover, these categories of ambulances will charge Rs 50 per additional kilometre exceeding 10 kilometres. Apart from this, large category of ambulances like Tata Winger, Force Traveller and Tata 407 will charge Rs 1250 up to 10 kilometres, and Rs 30 for every extra km. These categories of ambulances with basic life support system facilities will charge Rs 2000 up to the same distance. Large category of ambulances with advanced life supporting system facilities will charge Rs 3,000 up to 10 kilometres. As per reports, the proposed maximum rates include Oxygen, ambulance equipment, PPE kit, gloves, mask, face shield, sanitisation, driver and emergency medical technician.
