High drama unfolded in Rajnagar of Kendrapara district on Wednesday. This is a group of BJD leaders reportedly sprinkling cow dung water. The water is being sprinkled on the same spot where the Congress party had earlier staged a protest alleging lapses in relief distribution in the block.
The hunger strike was led by former MLA Anshuman Mohanty and the Congress workers staged a sit-in in front of the Baghamari Panchayat office. The agitating Congress members alleged that packets of dry food meant for cyclone-affected people have been buried in ground. The protestors demanded clarification on such wastage of relief materials.
Earlier, the Congress party had submitted a memorandum to the local BDO demanding investigation into the matter. However, party sources said the protest was launched after no action was taken by the BDO. To counter the protest, ruling-BJD members also took out a rally to the panchayat office.
The BJD members raised slogans against the Congress party and said that the food items were not buried and the Congress party is resorting to cheap politics. Later the ruling-party members also sprinkled cow dung water reportedly to purify the spot.
