Odisha Capital Saw Over 150 Suicide Cases In 2021, Another Bhubaneswar Woman Attempts Suicide At Kuakhai Bridge

High drama unfolded on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. An unidentified girl attempted to jump off the Kuakhai Bridge at Hanspal. She was however safely rescued by passersby as it occurred on the busy NH-5. Soon, police arrived at the spot and took the girl for questioning.

As per sources, the rescued girl alleged that she was continuously harassed by her sister-in-law which forced her to take the extreme step. The police officials have said that action will be taken against her if allegations are found true. Meanwhile, it has been observed that the suicide trend among youths is on a rise in Bhubaneswar.

According to DCP Umashankar Das, at least 151 suicide cases have been reported in the past 6 months in the capital city.
