A sensational murder case involving a youth and a married woman in Bhubaneswar has sent shockwaves across the city. On Monday (July 5), the mutilated body of the woman was recovered from a rented house in Bhimatangi Phase-1 area under Airfield Police limits, where she used to stay with her husband. A critically injured man was also found at the house and later taken to Capital hospital for treatment. The deceased was identified by her husband as Priyanka Priyadarshini Sahu while the injured man Jagannath Pradhan happens to be a resident of Jajpur district. As per reports, Jagannath and Priyanka knew each other previously and had gotten into an altercation a few months ago. Then, Pradhan had hatched a plan to kill Priyanka and her son and then kill himself. On Monday, after executing the gruesome crime, Jagannath attempted to make a video call to Priyanka’s husband Rakesh. When Rakesh did not pick up the call, he sent him a WhatsApp image showing the victim in a critical condition. After receiving that picture, Rakesh immediately asked the house owner to check his house. The house owner reportedly broke the door and entered the premises only to discover Priyanka and Jagannath in a pool of blood. Rakesh immediately informed this to the police. After a preliminary investigation, police recovered a suicide note on the spot written by Jagannath, detailing his intensions of killing Priyanka and her son before taking his own life.
