The IMD DG stated that the state received deficit rainfall due to the absence of any low pressure over the Bay of Bengal which is usually responsible for rainfall in Odisha. Mohapatra mentioned that the rainfall deficit will continue in the state till August 15, after which the rainfall activity will increase due to the likely formation of a low pressure.
