Lord Jagannath’s Young Servitor Puts On A Show During Ratha Jatra

A bow to the lord and then off he goes. Five-year-old Swayam Muduli is from the Muduli family of servitors of Puri Srimandir.

On the auspicious occasion of the Ratha Jatra festival, Swayam had a very special performance to welcome the lord at the Gundicha Temple. Cheered by the crowd around him, Swayam flipped himself up into a series of somersaults. These acrobatics were also accompanied by a fine balancing act displayed in an upside down motion.

While participating in the Pahandi of the Holy Trinity at Gundicha temple, Swayam also put on a display of some Yoga asanas & Mallakhamba acrobatics. Meanwhile, all the rituals of the Holy Trinity that are observed in Srimandir are being followed as per traditions at Gundicha Temple.

The sibling deities are on a 9-day soujourn to their aunt’s place, Gundicha temple.
