Large quantities of live-saving medicines were found dumped on the Bhatangpadar Main Road under Lanjigarh Block of Kalahandi district on Wednesday (Sept 1). Reports stated that locals found these life saving drugs estimated to be worth Lakhs of rupees.
These drugs, such as iron tablets and syrups were found strewn on the road. Moreover, some of the medicines were yet to reach their expiry date.
After finding these medicines dumped on road, furious locals alleged carelessness and apathy on part of the health authorities. Locals have sought for stringent action to be taken against the culprits.
Locals said that such medicines are provided free of cost to people in need, but such wastage deprives people of drugs that could potentially save their lives.
