Ganesh Puja To Be Celebrated In Adherence To Covid-19 Protocols In Bhubaneswar

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday released the Covid-19 guidelines for Ganesh Puja celebrations this year.

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday released the Covid-19 guidelines for Ganesh Puja celebrations this year. According to the new BMC guidelines, congregation within the jurisdiction of BMC have been prohibited.

Apart from this, Covid-19 protocols such as wearing of masks, social distancing and sanitisation has been made mandatory for Puja committees or organizers who wish to conduct Ganesh Puja in various mandaps or pandals.

Moreover, these Puja committees or organizers also need to obtain permission from officials duly authorized by the Commissioner of Police in Bhubaneswar. According to the guidelines of BMC the puja celebrations will be observed in indoor set-ups without public participation.

Apart from prohibiting idol procession the BMC has also provided guidelines regarding the idol size which should be 4 feet. During the Puja only 7 people allowed to participate at a time at one place. Ganesh puja celebrations have been allowed at various educational or coaching institutions with a participation of maximum 20 people.

These educational and coaching institutions need to ensure that the participating members are above 18 years of age and are fully vaccinated.
