“Love knows no language” one really does not require any language to express one’s feeling of love. Bolangir’s disabled couple Sunita and Badal is the classic example of this. Both speak their own language, that is the language of love.
Eight years ago, Sunita and Badal met for the first time, spoke in sign languages and connected instantly. They have been together ever since and their love has been strengthened by their four-year old young daughter. Badal and Sunita hail from Beherapali region of Balangir district in Odisha.
The couple has been suffering with hearing and speaking impairment since their childhood. Despite hailing from the same town, the duo had never known each other. In Chennai, while working in a company, the duo met for the first time and knew they were meant for each other.
Sunita and Badal had a concern that their daughter may be born with a similar disability as theirs. However, to God’s grace, they were blessed with a perfectly healthy child. Their daughter understands and speaks to them in the sign language. However, while spending time with her aunt she spells out all letters of English alphabet clear and precisely.
Sunita and Badal adore their daughter and have dedicated their loves for her wellbeing and education. As lucky as Sunita and Badal are to have found each other, they are equally devoted towards their day-to-day life activities and household chores.
While Sunita has manages the household like a pro, Badal is appreciated for his hard work, sincerity and dedication at his workplace. He works in a plywood-hardware shop where he is admired for his skilled precision and discipline. Impressed with his work, Badal’s employer makes sure to add a little extra sum to Badal’s pay check every month.
Not just Sunita and Badal, Badal’s mother also suffers from visual impairment. However, for these three individuals of the same family, government schemes and benefits seem farfetched. Although three members of this family are differently-abled, benefits of government schemes are far from reality. Sunita, Badal and his mother has all been a victim to the so called system in the state.
