After the Education Ministry sought feedback from the states and Union Territories on the Class 12th Board exams, almost all of them have reportedly supported CBSE's proposal to go ahead with the exams this year.
A few like Delhi, Maharashtra, Goa and Andaman Nicobar islands are reportedly against the idea of offline exams. Even as uncertainty prevails over conduct of the examination, here comes a relief for the students, as they are likely to get their own schools as exam centres. As per latest reports, students of class 12 are likely to appear board exams in their respective schools and discussion on this is underway.
Reports stated that the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) had proposed two different ways of conducting the exams. The first, which allows students to sit in their own schools for the exams or the second - by procuring exam centres. In the first option wherein exams will take place from schools the students have enrolled in, the entire Board Exam process can be completed in 45 days and the result would be declared within 15 days of completion of exams.
The other option was to assign students to a different school, for which, the CBSE reportedly claimed that it needs at least one month for pre-exam activities. Most of the states and Union Territories preferred the first option, which would allow students to appear exams from their own schools. Earlier, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal had asked states to send suggestions on the exams by May 25, and different states have submitted different proposals keeping in mind the safety of all students.
Majority of them have also agreed to hold the Board exams from July 15. All the proposals are under review and the Education Ministry is expected to announce the final decision on June 1.
