Students Face Disappointment After SC's Big Decision On Class 12 Private & Compartment Exams

Finally the suspense over CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) result ends. The Board has announced that results of the Class 12th exams would be declared on Friday (July 30) at 2 PM. A few national reports also claimed that like previous year, Class 10th results will be declared after results of Class 12th are published, though there is no official clarification from the board in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Class 12 private, 'patrachar' and compartment students faced big disappointment on Wednesday (July 29), days ahead of their offline exams scheduled between August 15 and September 15. The Supreme Court rejected the review petition seeking the cancellation of Class 12 exams of the private, compartment and patrachar students under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The top court has rejected the plea seeking reconsideration of its earlier order where it refused to interfere with the CBSE Board's assessment scheme and decision to conduct offline exams for these students. The CBSE had earlier clarified that results would be declared as soon as possible in order to save precious years of these students.

The board had elaborated stating that this would help give these students a chance to pursue higher education. However, the students had demanded the SC to review its decision and sought for parity with regular CBSE students launching protest before the CBSE headquarters.

As per reports, the CBSE cancelled the Class 12 board exams and had set an alternative strategy to evaluate the students. However, in CBSE’s “Policy for Tabulation of Marks for Class XII Board Examinations 2021”, Clause 29, the Board had mentioned that it would conduct the exams for the private, patrachar and compartment students as and when the conditions become conducive.

Therefore, the students of the three categories submitted a plea before the court stating that CBSE’s decision for conducting physical exams for them would endanger their safety and lives.
