BTS RM Asks Not To Target ARMY Over Allegations of Manipulating Music Charts
Topping the musical charts worldwide has become a regular feat for the seven-member K-Pop boy group BTS.
Be it their song 'Dynamite', 'Butter' or 'Permission To Dance', BTS songs always take over the top spot after their release. However, BTS ARMY was recently accused of manipulating music charts to help the globally famous K-pop septet hold their top spots. A national media portal quoted a recent interview from an international magazine where BTS leader RM broke the silence about the same and said that it is not right to target fans.
RM said that it seems like BTS is being an easy target, just because it is a boys group. RM in the interview said that if there are discussions regarding what being number 1 should represent, and then it’s up to them (Music Charts) to change the rules and make streaming weigh more on the ranking. Further, RM also elaborated and said that slamming the band or their fans is not right.
He added that it feels like they are easy targets because they are a boy band, a K-pop act, and have a high fan loyalty. Since August 2020, BTS has debuted on the top of Billboard Hot 100 every time the group has released a song. Recently, BTS’ 'Butter' ranked number one for nine weeks, while 'Permission to Dance' debuted on the top for a week following its release.
