In a shocking update, India registered as many as 6,148 deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest since the onset of the pandemic last year. The sudden spike in the daily deaths was attributed to the toll update in Bihar when it revised its death toll drastically by adding 3951 fatalities. The single-day infections in the country however remained below 1 lakh for the third consecutive day. India witnessed its DEADLIEST DAY since the onset of the pandemic.

Odisha government changed its lockdown strategy and announced partial lockdown across the state till 5 AM of July 1st. As per the latest announcement, greater degree of relaxation has been granted to Category A districts (Baragarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundergarh).
