Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the Biju Swasthya Kalyaan Yojana (BSKY) smart card on Friday (Aug 20) at a special event in Malkangiri district. In addition to launching the card, CM Naveen also distributed them to a few beneficiaries as well.
While addressing the gathering through a video message, CM said that about 3.5 Crore people of 96 Lakh families will benefit from smart cards. The cards will become functional from September 1st and would help people avail health care services easily in the state.
The CM further added that under this scheme, families would be able to avail treatment up to Rs 5 Lakh per annum, while women members of the family can avail healthcare benefits up to Rs 10 Lakh.
On Thursday (Aug 19), senior BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, had urged the state government to implement the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Odisha for the benefit of poor people, especially those who are working outside the state
