This washroom of a house in Lane-6 of Kapileswar Vihar, in Bhubaneswar's Palasuni area remained closed for 5 days. Not because there are no inhabitants, but rather a 4-ft long Bengal monitor lizard had occupied the toilet of the washroom scaring the family outside. Scaling the plastic pipe on the outer wall of the house, the reptile had entered the washroom through the skylight and fell into the toilet. Because of the slippery surface, the monitor lizard couldn’t move out and instead kept lingering in the toilet. The members of the house sprinkled some bleaching powder on the surface in order to force the lizard out, but nothing worked. After four long days, the family called the Snake Helpline to rescue the lizard. Members of the Snake Helpline reached and rescued the Bengal Monitor Lizard after grabbing its tail. The lizard was later released into a natural habitat on the outskirts of the city.
