After Cyclone Yaas Landfall, Odisha Issues Red Warning For 9 Districts

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha, has issued an advisory to the Collectors of nine districts regarding forecast of heavy rainfall in the next two days.

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha, has issued an advisory to the Collectors of nine districts regarding forecast of heavy rainfall in the next two days. After landfall of Yaas, the system weakened into a severe cyclonic storm and will gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm. However, nine districts have been put on alert till Thursday (May 27) morning.

As per reports, a red warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in these districts; while some places in Jajpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal may experience extremely heavy falls. Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Angul, Deogarh, Sundergarh and Sambalpur, where there are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall today and tomorrow. Similar conditions will prevail in Sundergarh and Keonjhar till Friday morning.
