E-commerce giant Amazon will host its first-ever Career Day in India on September 16 this year. In what could be a great opportunity for job seekers, the world’s largest online retailer said it is hiring for more than 8000 direct job openings across 35 cities in India.

E-commerce giant Amazon will host its first-ever Career Day in India on September 16 this year. In what could be a great opportunity for job seekers, the world’s largest online retailer said it is hiring for more than 8000 direct job openings across 35 cities in India.

As per reports, the company has openings in cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Kolkata, Noida, Amritsar, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Pune, and Surat. These job opportunities are reportedly spread across roles in corporate, technology, customer service, and operations.

In a recent interview, a senior official at Amazon said that their commitment in India is to create around 20 lakh direct and indirect jobs by 2025. The official mentioned that they have already created around 10 lakh direct and indirect jobs.

If reports are anything to go by, even during the pandemic, the e-commerce giant had created around 3 lakh direct and indirect jobs across technologies, content creation, retail, logistics, and manufacturing. The Amazon official said that the entire Career Day event is designed to support all those who are seeking a new job or help others who want transition into a different career.

As per national media (Business-Standard) reports, on the Career Day, Amazon CEO, Andy Jassy, will be sharing his own career experience and advice for job-seekers. Jassy has already said the company is planning to hire 55,000 people for corporate and technology roles across countries in the coming months.

Out of this, over 40,000 jobs will be in the United States, while other recruitments will be in countries such as India, Germany and Japan via its job fair ‘Amazon Career Day.’
