'The Family Man 2'- Star Samantha Akkineni Apologizes
Samantha Akkineni has apologized for potentially 'hurting anyone's sentiments' in 'The Family Man 2' in which she played the role of a Sri Lankan Tamil liberation fighter.
The actress in an interview to national media (Bollywood Hungamma) stated that she allows people to have their own opinions, but she feels sorry for 'hurting anyone's sentiments.' Samantha in the interview sincerely apologized as she had not intended to hurt anyone.
Meanwhile, she also added that once the show released, 'a lot of noise stopped' and said that perhaps people who saw the series found it 'wasn't so bad after all'. However, in the end, Samantha apologized to all the people who didn't watch the show and continue to hold resentful feelings. This comes after 'The Family Man 2' faced flak ahead of its release, with several political leaders raising objections on the show.
The Tamil Nadu government had also objected to the casting of Samantha Akkineni. In the show, actor Manoj Bajpayee's character Srikant Tiwari has been pitted against a new and powerful adversary, Raji, which was played by Samantha. 'The Family Man 2' is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
