'Plans To Achieve Vaccination Target By End Of December 2021': Odisha H&FW Director Bijay Panigrahi
If the vaccines are supplied on time without any hassles, then the Odisha government plans to finish the vaccination drive by end of December 2021.
This information was given by Odisha Health and Family Welfare Services Director Bijay Panigrahi on Tuesday (August 31). Panigrahi informed that till date 2.2 Crore doses have already been administered, while 4 Crore doses are yet to be administered.
Speaking about the infections among children, Panigrahi admitted that the percentage of infection among children has increased. But, he also assured that the state government is prepared to handle a possibly high case load. Meanwhile, speaking about the new Covid-19 variant called the 'C 1.2', Panigrahi said that reports suggest that it might cause breakthrough infections. However, the variant has not been detected in India yet.
