The Anganwadi worker, who had come under the vigilance scanner on Tuesday (Sept 14) for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to her income, was arrested by Vigilance officials on Wednesday (Sept 15).
The accused in the case has been identified as Kabita Mathan working at the Koradakanta Anganwadi Centre in Bhubaneswar. Vigilance sleuths had traced assets worth more than Rs 4 crore belonging to her. As per reports, six teams of the anti-corruption agency had conducted simultaneous raids at six different places associated with the accused Aanganwadi worker.
Following the house-search, Vigilance sleuths informed that assets worth over Rs 4 Crore, including four multi-storey buildings, 14 plots (10 in Bhubaneswar), one four-wheeler and three two-wheelers were found in her name.
Insurance deposits over Rs.2.2 Lakh, gold ornaments weighing around 212 grams worth over Rs.6.36 Lakh and other movable and immovable properties were also unearthed during house search of the Anganwadi worker.
