TMKOC: This Actor From 'The Kapil Sharma Show' Had Refused To Play 'Jethalal'

There was a time, when producer of one of television's most popular shows, 'Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashmah', Asit Modi, had to run from pillar to post to finalise the cast of the (Sab TV) sitcom.

Almost a decade earlier, producer Asit Modi had tried hard to find the perfect fits for his special project. However, he was unable to zero in on an actor willing to take the risk and play such a complex-comedic character.

If reports are anything to go by, Asit Modi had approached many popular faces in the cine industry for the role of Jethalal! First, the character was offered to popular actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav, who is famous for roles in movies like 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', 'Phir Hera Pheri', ‘Chup Chup Ke’ and ‘Bhagam Bhag’. But Rajpal rejected the role stating that he wanted to focus on films and did not want to give long-term commitment to a television sitcom.

Asit next approached comedian Ahsaan Qureshi, who had also refused to play the character.

But did you know that Jethalal’s role was also offered to someone, who is now a popular face on the famous 'The Kapil Sharma Show'?

Yes, you heard that right! He is none other than Kiku Sharda. Kiku who said no to Jethalal, is now Jethmalani in TKSS!

As per reports, Kiku had refused to be a part of the show, because he did not want to be a part of a full-fledged show and was then already busy with some of his new projects.

And finally, producer Asit Modi stumbled upon actor Dilip Joshi, who immediately accepted the part of 'Jethalal' in the now iconic show and the rest is history!
