With the uncertainty looming over annual board exams due to the pandemic, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in Odisha has made some major changes in the pattern of Plus 2 examination this year. The Council has planned to conduct board examinations both in first and second year.
According to the CHSE notification, six internal and two annual exams shall be held in two years. The internal examinations will be of 20 marks in each subject and will be held at the end of every quarter.
The CHSE will only facilitate the final board examination while the colleges will update the Council about other examinations held at College level. The decision was taken by CHSE to make easy the process of assessment of results of the students even if the examinations could not be conducted in case of any eventualities in future.
However, the Council's decision has evoked mixed reaction among students in the State. While some feel this is a good move, students of government colleges have apprehension that private college students might score better than them.

To curb malpractices in the exams and maintain the authenticity in examination process, the Central Government on Monday introduced The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, 2024.
A high-level committee for social sciences, constituted by the NCERT to revise the school curriculum, has unanimously recommended that "India" should be replaced with "Bharat" in the school textbooks for all classes.
Contradicting the nourishing aspect, most of the Anganwadi centres in Keonjhar’s Telkoi block are now in a precarious condition.
