The new variant of Covid-19 virus, being called as Delta 'Plus' is in negligible numbers in India. Chief of Odisha Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET), CBK Mohanty shared this information on Monday (Oct 25). The DMET Chief stated that currently only a few cases of the new variant have been detected in India. Meanwhile, even though in the UK the new strain has been termed as a 'variant of investigation', the WHO is yet to tag the variant as a 'variant of concern.'
Rs 1,000 per month is being provided to each orphan child, who resides in any childcare institution, she said, adding, the assistance will continue till the child turns 18.
He urged people to follow the necessary Covid-19 protocols like wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, washing hands, and not spitting anywhere.
India has recorded 1,134 new coronavirus cases, while the active cases increased to 7,026, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Wednesday.
"I'm confident that this year we will be able to say that Covid-19 is over as a public health emergency of international concern," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a media briefing.
