Several students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Kaptipada of Mayurbhanj district reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 virus triggering fears. Prior to this, as many as 10 students of a government run girl’s school at Bolangir district had tested positive for COVID-19, while in Bhubaneswar two students of Capital High School and more than 10 teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 tested positive.
Amid rising fears, the School & Mass Education Minister, Samir Ranjan Dash on Monday (Dec 13) informed that Covid-19 infections detected at schools are isolated cases. Dash informed that the schools are following the prescribed SOPs and that infection will not hamper studies.
The rising cases of daily Covid-19 infections across the country is said to be majorly driven by the JN.1 sub variant. As of now, the country has reportedly detected about 145 cases of JN.1 variant from eight states.
