The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a formal notification for the by-elections to Pipili which was postponed following the death of Congress candidate Ajit Mangaraj.
As per the notification, the last date for filing nominations has been fixed for April 26. While the scrutiny of nominations will be held on April 27, the last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 29. The Election Commission has stated that the by-polls will be held on May 13th 2021, between 7 AM and 6 PM. The election process shall be completed by May 18, the ECI has said.
The fresh notification for the by-election has been issued after the Returning Officer adjourned the poll as per the provisions of sub-section (2) of Section 52 of Representation of the People Act, 1951.
