Amid surge in COVID19 cases in the state, the Ganjam district administration has informed on Tuesday that all religious places, parks, playgrounds, beaches and lakes in the district will remain closed for 7 days from April 14. The shutdown will remain in force till April 21.
According to a letter from the Ganjam District Collector, during these seven days all religious places will be sanitized and only daily rituals will be allowed to be performed by sevayats/priests.
The letter also stated that all public places such as parks, grounds, beaches and lake shall be closed for seven days with effect from April 14 till April 21 for maintenance and sanitization purposes.
The celebrations of Meru Jatra and Pana Sankranti will not be conducted publicly in the district.
