Odisha’s Raj Bhawan is taking significant steps towards a sustainable and greener future by harnessing solar energy and promoting electric mobility. Highlighting these efforts, industrialist Anand Mahindra shared a video on his X account showcasing the Governor’s residence adopting renewable energy and electric vehicles. The Raj Bhawan has already installed a 150 kW solar plant, with plans underway to add a 400 kW facility, aiming to transform the campus into a Net-Zero energy destination.
Raj Bhavan's electric push
In addition to renewable energy, Raj Bhawan has introduced a fleet of Made-in-India electric vehicles, ranging from cars to two-wheelers. The initiative, highlighted by the Governor, reflects the administration’s commitment to sustainable mobility, cleaner air, and reduced carbon emissions. Among the key additions is a green EV buggy, which has become a symbol of the Raj Bhawan’s dedication to a pollution-free environment.
Officials emphasised that these steps are not just a choice but a deliberate path toward responsible and eco-friendly governance. The combination of solar power and electric vehicles is expected to significantly reduce the campus’s carbon footprint while setting an example for other government institutions and citizens.
With these efforts, Raj Bhawan is positioning itself as a model for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in Odisha. By embracing renewable energy and clean mobility, the Governor’s residence is contributing to a quieter, cleaner, and more sustainable future for the state.
