Some journeys stay with you long after the meter stops ticking. Not because of the distance covered, but because of the story shared along the way. On a busy Bengaluru street, what began as a routine auto booking soon turned into a moment of quiet inspiration - the kind that restores your faith in everyday heroes.

An Unexpected Pickup, An Unforgettable Conversation
When commuter Sneha’s auto arrived, her friends reacted with delighted surprise - a woman was behind the wheel. Curious and excited, she struck up a conversation with the driver, only to discover a story far bigger than the ride itself.
The driver revealed she had trained for nearly 40 days with Namma Yatri, the Bengaluru-based mobility platform known for empowering local drivers. Confident after her training, she chose an electric auto, calling it easier and smoother to operate.
Buying the vehicle through a loan, she has already repaid nearly ₹2.5 lakh and now earns around ₹45,000 a month, sometimes even more.
Breaking Stereotypes, Building Confidence
Auto driving remains a male-dominated profession, often associated with safety concerns and social stigma for women. Yet, her experience tells a different story. She says commuters are mostly respectful and supportive, and she has rarely faced teasing. Her favourite part of the job isn’t the income - it’s the smiles.
Youngsters, especially girls at traffic signals, wave excitedly when they see her. “They look proud,” she shared, a reminder that representation can quietly change mindsets.

A Growing Sisterhood on the Streets
She isn’t alone. In areas like Koramangala, hundreds of women drivers are forming networks and support groups, encouraging more women to join the workforce. Platforms like Namma Yatri continue enabling this shift with training, licensing help, and access to vehicles. Together, they’re not just transporting passengers- they’re transporting possibilities.

More Than a Ride
By the time the trip ended, it wasn’t just an auto ride anymore. It was a glimpse into a future where women confidently claim spaces once denied to them. Sometimes, progress doesn’t roar - it simply hums through city traffic in a bright yellow auto, driven by courage.
