What began as a routine sick leave request for a Bengaluru-based private bank employee turned into an online storm after his manager’s response went viral for all the wrong reasons. The employee, who had been suffering from severe discomfort, texted his superior on WhatsApp asking for a day off but instead of empathy, he received a lecture on “discipline” riddled with spelling and grammatical errors.

The Viral Conversation

According to screenshots shared by the employee on Reddit under the post titled “What should I do with this kind of manager?”, the banker informed his boss that he had visited the hospital on October 11. His doctor suspected fissures or haemorrhoids, making it painful to sit or stand for long hours.

He requested medical leave, writing, “Please provide me with medical leave for today. I’ll be back once this is manageable.”
The next morning, he extended his request, saying his condition had not improved.

Netizens Slam Manager’s Insensitivity

When the employee politely explained his medical situation and apologised, the manager doubled down with another scolding message: “Who will do you business? The more you run away from responsibility the more problems.”

The chat quickly went viral, with netizens criticizing the manager’s lack of empathy and poor professionalism, calling it an example of toxic work culture still prevalent in some corporate offices.
