Whatsapp has simplified day-to-day communication. WhatsApp chats are already end-to-end encrypted, which means that no third party can see your individual or group chats, and not even WhatsApp reads the WhatsApp blog's privacy page. If you are concerned about the privacy of your chat, you can use these five tips.

Limit your online visibility

Whatsapp users can choose who can see when they are online. This can be done by going to the Privacy section of the app's Settings menu. Users can choose which contacts can or cannot see them when they are online. So, if you want to use the app but appear offline to someone, go to the privacy settings and categorise those contacts.

View Once Messages

You can use Whatsapp's view once feature to show photos/videos to the receiver only once. As a result, if you send a view once message to any contact, it will be deleted once the recipient opens it. Once opened, the message vanishes and cannot be recovered.

Two-step verification

PIN numbers can be used to add extra layers of security to your chats. If you set a pin for your chats, no one can read your messages even if they unlock your phone. Go to Settings> Account> Two-step verification> Enable and enter a six-digit PIN to set up a PIN for your chats. Don't forget to include your email address so that you can recover/reset your PIN if you forget it.

Delete/Restore Messages

Have you accidentally sent a message to the wrong person or group? You can always get rid of it. If you accidentally delete a message, you will be given the undo option for a few seconds to restore that message. The feature is only available if you select 'Delete for Everyone.' If the feature is not available in your Whatsapp, it may be added in future app updates.

Disappearing messages

These are messages that disappear after a predetermined amount of time. You can set a lifeline for sensitive messages that you don't want to keep around. While sending the message, you can specify three message deletion times: after 24 hours, after seven days, and after 90 days.

With over one billion active users, WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps. These simple tricks will help you secure your Whatsapp.
