Making things worse, hundreds of paddy sacks have been drenched in the unseasonal rain
At a time when guarding the paddy is a problem for them, the hailstorm lashing the area for last three days only made the situation worse.
A Central team is scheduled to visit Jajpur district on Monday for an assessment of the damages caused by the cyclonic storm.
As if the devastation caused to the paddy and vegetable crops by cyclone ‘Jawad’ induced heavy rain was not enough, the recent two-day-long downpour triggered by a trap-line has dealt a severe blow to the farmers in the State.
Vegetable farmers also have suffered a huge loss during the heavy downpour. At places where crops have managed to evade the cyclonic impact, apprehension of pest attacks have doubled the agony of farmers.
