Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said that in view of the drop in daily cases of Covid-19 infections, the State government has decided to relax restrictions to support the livelihood of people. As per the decision, the weekend shutdown which was enforced in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri has been lifted.
The State government may go for complete unlock or some more relaxations in September keeping in view the rising cases among children and the festive season.
The Odisha government should also consider the lifting of weekend shutdown restrictions (Saturdays and Sundays) which are presently enforced in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Puri, Traders Association said.
As the third wave threat of COVID19 looms large over Odisha, the experts call for no relaxation in lockdown norms as the festive season could increase the infection rate
