As expected, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced the schedule of the by-election to Padampur assembly constituency in Odisha. The Padampur assembly seat had fallen vacant following the death of sitting MLA Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha on October 3, 2022.
The youngsters will no more have to wait for pre-requisite condition of attaining the age of 18 years on January 1 to get enrolled in the voters’ list.
The nominations will be scrutinised on May 12 and the candidates are allowed to withdraw their candidature by May 17, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, S.K. Lohani.
With voting done for the Pipili bypoll, the counting process is all set to take place Sunday (Oct 3) morning.
