The situation is still grim in some of the districts of the state and this has sparked resentment among the farmers who alleged that no action is being taken to drain the water from their agricultural land.
The districts likely to be affected by the hailstorm are Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Kundu was under depression for many days following the loss of the ripe crop. Feeling helpless over the debt burden and the huge loss, Kundu allegedly consumed poison around a week back.
Kailash, who had grown paddy on his two acres of farmland, was upset after heavy rain triggered by cyclone Jawad damaged his standing paddy crops.
The deceased, Laxmi Narayan Jena who, as per reports, had taken loan to grow paddy on two acres of land, ended life by consuming poison after he allegedly failed to repay the debt
Refuting the allegation, IOCL authorities claimed that no such wastewater was released into farmlands.
As many as 22 blocks, 127 panchayats and 396 villages in Mayurbhanj have been affected due to the heavy rainfall triggered by low pressure.
Norwester that lashed several districts of Odisha in the last couple of days has reportedly damaged crops at several places in Balasore and Sambalpur districts.
