Ahead of the 2024 general elections, a showdown between senior BJD leader Debashish Samantaray and Paradip MLA Sambit Routray has now caught everyone's attention

A rift between two groups of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) workers came to fore in Gop block of Puri district on Sunday. 

As per reports, the supporters of the Thakurmunda Block president, Prashant Kumar Behera and the Karanjia MLA, Basanti Hembram got into a heated exchange of words at the party office which culminated in a scuffle.

The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) seems to be imploding with infighting in the ranks which cropped up recently amid demands of Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra’s removal from the State Cabinet.

Ahead of the panchayat elections in Odisha, two groups in the Kandhamal unit of the Biju Janata Dal engaged in a tense encounter bringing the cracks in the party out to open.
