"During the COVID-19 pandemic, anganwadi workers went from door to door to promote health protocols and established good coordination with other health sector workers like ASHA workers, helping people at a time when family members were scared to take care of their own relatives, Jaleel said.
The protesting workers demanded minimum of Rs 21,000 monthly salary and Rs 10,500 monthly pay for Anganwadi helpers.
With a view to instill confidence and social security among the Anganwadi workers, supervisors and helpers engaged in Covid-19 duty, the State government on Tuesday announced a financial assistance of Rs 50 lakh for the kin of these frontline warriors in case of death due to the contagious virus in the line of duty.
