Odisha’s para athletes continued their impressive run at the 2025 World Abilitysport Games, adding three more medals on the second day of competition on Saturday and strengthening India’s overall medal tally at the global event in Thailand.

Odisha’s Kamalakant Nayak delivered one of the standout performances of the day by clinching the Gold Medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw F53 category. With a commanding throw of 17.67 metres, Nayak outperformed the field by a significant margin. Fellow Indian athlete Muniyasamy Chellappa secured the silver with a throw of 12.59 metres, while Chinese Taipei’s Wei-Yu Hsu claimed the bronze with 9.39 metres. Nayak’s victory reinforces India’s dominance in the F53 category and marks an important achievement for Odisha in international para athletics.

In the Men’s Discus Throw F55 event, Odisha’s Prafulla Khandayatray added to the india’s medal tally with a Bronze Medal, registering a best throw of 22.13 metres. India’s Muthuraja won the gold medal with an impressive 27.07 metres, and the silver medal was secured by the Czech Republic’s Dusan Scambura, who recorded a throw of 23.91 metres. Khandayatray’s consistent performance reflects his rising form on the international stage.

Odisha’s Medal count further increased through Suchitra Parida, who secured a Bronze Medal in the Women’s Discus Throw F54/55/56 combined category. Parida threw 14.35 metres in an event decided under the Raza points system, which equalises performances across different classifications. The gold medal was won by India’s Keerthika Jayachandran (F54) with a throw of 12.16 metres, while Vijayashree (F56), also from India, took silver with 13.96 metres. Parida’s result adds another significant achievement to Odisha’s growing profile in women’s para athletics.
