Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: As part of the build up to the most-awaited sporting spectacle in Odisha- the upcoming Men’s Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 28 this year- the newly-designed jersey for Team India was unveiled today.

The Indian team will sport the jersey during the world cup event. Players of the team with skipper PR Sreejesh unveiled the jersey at a special function in Mumbai today.

Legendary hockey players including Olympian and 1975 World Cup winner Ajit Pal Singh, former Indian team captains Dhanraj Pillay, Dilip Tirkey, Sardar Singh, Sandeep Singh and son of hockey wizard Dhyan Chand, Ashok Kumar were also present during the occasion and congratulated the players.

The new jersey has been designed by renowned fashion designer Narendra Kumar.

Speaking during the function, current team India captain, PR Sreejesh said the players are excited and ready to take on everyone.

“Everyone’s expectation is really high on us because we have performed before, be it winning medals for the country or matches, and that’s what everyone wants now. The entire team is ready and we need your support,” urged Sreejesh to the fans.

Hockey legend Ajit Pal Singh said the team needs to stay composed as it would be playing in front of home crowd.

When players are on field they become altogether different persons, so they should use it well for their benefits, Singh said while praising the team India players.

Former Indian Hockey team captain, Ashok Kumar said “Wining for the country is the proudest of all achievements and among all colours what matters to us is gold because that is the colour of the medal that we need to bring home.”

Team India will look for ultimate glory, the world championship, when they lock horns against 16 top teams of the World during the mega sporting event at Kalinga Stadium of Bhubaneswar from November 28 to December 16.
