Cuttack: Son of OCA CEO Bidyut Nayak and young off-spinner Subham Nayak has been included in the Odisha senior squad for their next Ranji Trophy game to be played against Andhra in Vizianagaram from October 24. Subham is all set to replace batsman Ranjit Singh who is suffering from an injury.

Subham Nayak, who was suspended for a year due to age forgery, came back to competitive cricket by playing for the Odisha under 23 squad in the Col. CK Nayudu Trophy. So far he has picked up seven wickets including a five wicket haul against Madhya Pradesh in the second game.

Subham was selected to represent the India U-19 side in a game against Afghanistan in 2015. He has previously played for the senior Odisha team in four List A matches in the same year and scalped three wickets.

Odisha is placed in Group C in this year’s Ranji Trophy and their first game against Tripura in Bhubaneswar was marred due to rain. Currently, Odisha is placed at sixth position only above Baroda after collecting a solitary point from the drawn game. The team, that is all set to travel to Vizianagaram tonight, is led by batsman Govinda Poddar with former international opener Shiv Sundar Das as the chief coach cum team manager.
