Bhubaneswar: Odisha today suffered a humiliating 10-wicket defeat against Uttar Pradesh in the third day of Elite-C group Ranji trophy match at KIIT stadium here.

After going all out for just 256 in the first innings, Odisha fell back against UP by 181 runs as the visitors garnered a massive 437 runs with the help of a 159 from skipper Akash Deep Nath and two half centuries from Priyam Garg and Rinku Singh. In the second innings, Odisha wrapped up the second day by losing more than half of its wickets to score 180/7. Subhranshu Senapati was the pick of the batsmen for Odisha with his fighting 87 runs.

The hosts were bundled out for 221 in the third day today thanks to good spells of bowling from Shivam Mavi (5 for 68 in 18 overs) and Ankit Rajput (4 for 64 in 23.3 overs). Subhranshu Senapati was the only one who continued the innings for Odisha with his 42 runs.

The visitors won the match without losing any wickets for 44 runs in the second innings.

After suffering its first loss of the season, Odisha which had earlier drew its opener against Haryana now sits on the 7th position with just 1 point in the Elite group-C while Uttar Pradesh grabbed an extra bonus point to score a total of 7 points from two games.

Odisha will play its third match of the season when it faces Assam on November 20 at Nehru Stadium in Guwahati.
