Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote the men's Hockey World Cup, which is being hosted by Odisha for the first time, Odia boy Bijay Kumar Mallick toured the country to spread the message.

Mallick had started his promotional journey 20 days back from Bhubaneswar in a bid to make people aware about the Hockey World Cup and invite people from across the country to witness the mega event.

Mallick said that people across the country have shown great support towards the mega event.

“Many people in the country don’t know that Hockey World Cup will be organized in Bhubaneswar. So we tried to spread awareness and promote the event across the country,” Mallick added.

After visiting several places like Mumbai, New Delhi, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, Mallick returned to Bhubaneswar today, but was disappointed when he came to know that the tickets for the matches have been sold out and neither has he got any passes for the matches.

Bikash Kumar Lenka who accompanied Mallick in his journey said that they visited several parts of the country to promote the world cup but were disappointed that there are no tickets left for us.

The Men’s Hockey World Cup is scheduled to be played at Kalinga Stadium from November 28 for which several teams have started arriving in the Odisha.
