Kuldeep Yadav jokes about his DRS struggle, says Rohit Sharma often teases him

After his impressive four-wicket performance in the third ODI against South Africa at Visakhapatnam, Kuldeep Yadav opened up about his difficulty with DRS calls — something his teammates love teasing him for. Once praised as a ‘DRS legend’ by Virat Kohli, the left-arm spinner confessed he often misjudges reviews and ends up urging the captain and senior players to challenge decisions, only to be laughed off.

Kuldeep returned figures of 4/41 from 10 overs, but his humorous admission during the innings break stole the spotlight. He revealed that Rohit Sharma frequently pulls his leg over his review instincts, as he tends to believe almost every appeal is out. On more than one occasion during the match, Kuldeep could be seen animatedly pleading for a review, only to be denied and sent back to his mark. A notable moment came off the final ball of the 43rd over when the bowler was once again eager for a challenge that was eventually declined.

“I am pretty poor when it comes to DRS, and Rohit bhai keeps joking about it,” Kuldeep said. “When the ball hits the pads, I feel like every one is a wicket. Thankfully, we have people like KL behind the stumps. He has been excellent with review decisions. As bowlers, we sometimes think everything is out, so you need calm heads around you to keep things in control.”

Kuldeep’s spell dismantled South Africa’s lower and middle order. He first dismissed Marco Jansen and Dewald Brevis in the 39th over, picking up two wickets in three deliveries. Later, he sent back Lungi Ngidi and Corbin Bosch to register his 11th four-wicket haul in ODI cricket.
