Bhubaneswar: University athletes from Odisha bagged gold medals in two events at the ongoing Khelo India University Games 2020 here on Thursday.

Weightlifter Manoj Sahu and archers Sraban Kumar, Suryamani and Ranjit Naik bagged the team gold at the mega sporting extravaganza.

Manoj Sahu, a student of Behrampur University won the gold medal in in men's 73 kg weight category. Manoj won the first place with a total lift of 267kg. While Manish Kumar of Panjab University won silver medal and Lovepreet Singh of Punjab University clinched the bronze medal.

Similarly, archers Sraban Kumar, Suryamani and Ranjit Naik of KIIT University, the host of the event, won the team gold medal in the Recurve Men category of Archery.

Earlier, Archer Ranjit Naik had won silver medal in men's individual recurve event while Kumbheswar Mallik of KIIT University had a bronze medal in the 55kg weightlifting event on Wednesday.

Savitribai Phule Pune University with 13 golds and 24 medals in total tops the medal charts followed by Punjab University with 26 medals including 8 golds in second place while Karnataka’s Jain University is placed in the third place with 16 medals including 8 gold medals.
