Bhubaneswar: A sports enthusiast from Bhubaneswar has now become the talk of the town for pursuing a unique passion of collecting jerseys of several popular sports personalities. Meet Sampoorna Rath, a student who is now a proud collector of hundreds of sport jerseys.

From Prabodh Tirkey to Saina Nehwal and Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Sampoorna has a unique collection of jerseys of cricketers, shuttlers, footballers, hockey players and other sporting personalities of international repute.

“Initially I started with hockey from 2013 and now I am trying to collect jerseys and caps from many other sports. I thank the players, my parents and friends for their continuous support,” said Sampoorna.

A dental student at a private medical college, Sampoorna manages his time really well to study and go around the country during important sports events to collect jerseys. Not only Indian players, he also has jerseys of many international sportspersons.

As many major sports events are now being organised in Bhubaneswar at regular intervals, it has allowed Sampoorna to interact with many reputed players and convince them to gift their jerseys to him.

“Bhubaneswar is turning out to be a sports hub now which is really a great thing for me as now I can meet the players here in my city as well. It’s really tough for me to manage both studies and my passion to collect the jerseys but when I get free time, I try to contact players or their managers,” said Sampoorna.

International cricketer Gurkeerat Singh’s jersey is the most prized one according to Sampoorna. He has a dream of building a museum in near future and is eager to work hard for that.
