After months of uncertainty, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have received clearance to host the majority of their home fixtures in Bengaluru for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The development brings relief to fans after last year’s post-title victory parade led to a temporary ban on matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Five Matches in Bengaluru, Two in Raipur
With the new season approaching, RCB had been without a confirmed home base. The franchise has now announced that five of their seven home games will be played in Bengaluru, while the remaining two will be staged in Raipur, effectively giving the team two home venues this season.

In an official statement, RCB thanked the Government of Karnataka, the Karnataka State Cricket Association and the Karnataka Police for their support in facilitating the return of IPL matches to the city. The franchise acknowledged the coordinated efforts to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen safety measures in time for the tournament.
Opening Ceremony Uncertain
Traditionally, defending champions often host the opening ceremony of the following IPL season, though it is not a formal rule. Speculation suggests Bengaluru could stage the curtain-raiser for IPL 2026, but RCB’s statement did not confirm any such plans.
Reaffirming their bond with the city, the franchise described the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as central to the team’s identity, crediting the passionate home crowd for inspiring players through every phase of the game.
With Bengaluru back on the IPL map and Raipur added as a secondary base, RCB fans can once again look forward to cheering their team on home soil in IPL 2026.
