Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: Son of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar has been bought by the Mumbai Indians at his base price of Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2021 auction on Thursday.

Arjun was the last player to come up in the accelerated auction and received just one bid from Mumbai  who eventually got him in the base price.

Even though this will be the junior Tendulkar's first official entry into the IPL as a player, he has had stints with Mumbai Indians as a net bowler. He had travelled to the UAE with the team last year as a net bowler.

Left-arm pacer Arjun had recently made his senior debut for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he picked up two wickets in equal number of matches. The budding cricketer has been playing age-group tournaments for Mumbai over the years. He has also been playing various invitational tournaments.

Arjun has drawn the attention of the franchises by slamming an unbeaten 77 off just 31 balls studded with eight sixes and five fours for MIG Cricket Club in the 73rd Police Invitation Shield tournament on February 14. He also picked up three wickets for 41 runs as his team handed Islam Gymkhana a 194-run defeat in a second round Group A match.

The budding all-rounder has been seen bowling to the Indian national team in the nets. He has also represented the India U-19 team when it toured Sri Lanka in 2018.

It will be a great learning experience for the 21-year-old to be part of the star-studded Mumbai Indians line-up.
