Sharjah: The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the toss and elected to bat against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 28th match of the Indian Premier League here on Monday. RCB posted 195-run winning margin for KKR at a loss of 2 wickets in the first innings.

Aaron Finch and Devdutt Padikkal had a good start. However, Andre Russell departed Devdutt at 32 and Prasidh Krishna departed Finch at 47.

Ab de Villiers scored his fifty in just 23 deliveries. Ab de scored 73 runs in 33 balls and RCB skipper Virat Kohli scored 33 runs in 28 balls taking the total score to 194 runs at a loss of 2 wickets. Alongside, Ab de Villiers and Virat Kohli set another partnership record of 3000 runs and counting.

RCB lost its first wicket at 67 runs and the second wicket was down at 94.

Batsman Tom Banton made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders. He replaced Sunil Narine, who was reported for suspect bowling action during KKR's previous match against Kings XI Punjab. While RCB have replaced Gurkeerat Singh Mann with Mohammed Siraj.

Unlike previous seasons, RCB aren’t lagging in the initial phase of the league. The unit has been ticking all the boxes and would continue the momentum tonight. KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik has returned among runs. However, Sunil Narine’s action and Andre Russell’s knee injury remains KKR’ major concern.
